Montenegro vacation at sea. Which resort in Montenegro to choose

Montenegro is a very beautiful country with beautiful nature, clean Adriatic Sea. It is not surprising that more and more tourists come here every year. If we talk about its resorts, then there is a place for every budget. You can relax on a very budget, without feeling deprived, or you can have a blast by choosing a highly comfortable hotel with all sorts of additional services and SPA programs. Being in Montenegro, in fact, these are just little things, the main thing is that you will be able to appreciate the whole flavor of this beautiful country, the hospitality of the local residents, try local cuisine, enjoy the virgin nature, mountains, lakes.

So, the most popular coast among tourists is Budva; there are many resorts here that have serious differences from each other. Before you go here on vacation, you need to understand what you primarily expect from your vacation, what kind of beaches you want to see: sandy or pebble. How much are you willing to pay for your hotel or apartment?

The Budva coast includes such resorts as: Budva, Becici and Rafailovici, Przno, Sveti Stefan, Milocer, Petrovac, Sutomore, Bar, Ulcinj.

Budva- the most popular place among tourists, this town attracts such a large number of guests primarily because of the pricing policy. There is a lot of inexpensive housing here, including hotels and apartments. Even at the most high season in Budva you can find a place to stay, and at a very economical price. Also, there is a widely developed infrastructure and excellent opportunities for active youth recreation. There are nightclubs, restaurants, shops, bars. With the onset of darkness, the city begins to become completely holy, music plays everywhere, of course, you shouldn’t compare Budva with Ibiza, the scale here is not the same, but nevertheless there is where to have fun and dance. Budva also has excellent opportunities for tennis, diving and paragliding.

The beaches here are pebble mixed with sand. The big disadvantage of this resort is the large number of vacationers. In the summer, there may be a problem with finding a free piece to lay out a towel. Therefore, you will have to get up earlier than you would like.

This resort is ideal for active tourists who want to explore the country on their own by renting a car, as well as for young people. For families with children and elderly people, Budva is not the best place to relax; it is better to find something quieter.

Becici and Rafailovici- two resorts located next to each other. An excellent option for families with children and elderly people. There is no longer as much activity here as in Budva. A large number of hotels gives tourists a choice of where to stay. Here is one of the expensive Splendid 5* hotels, there is also a hotel with its own slides, and the famous Iberostar Bellevue 4* hotel with large territory, offering its guests all-inclusive meals, which is very rare for Montenegro. The beaches in Becici and Rafailovici are golden, small-pebble. Also a big plus of this place is that all the hotels are located near the sea, but I would like to note that vacationing here is not entirely economical. In summer, the cost of a trip for two for 14 nights/15 days will be from 70,000 rubles at best. There are not many apartments in this place, they are all located on a hill, so the road to the sea will not be very comfortable, going up and down every day will not be very convenient.

For those who like to combine a quiet and relaxing holiday with an active one, this place is perfect due to the fact that you can walk to Budva on your own along the seaside boulevard, the journey will not take 20 minutes, and in the summer there is also a tourist train running here that will help you get there to the city center is much faster.

Becici/Rafailovici

Pržno- this place was once a fishing village and there were no prospects for tourism to be developed here. Today, Przno, although a tiny place to relax, attracts a large number of tourists. The reason is complete solitude with nature, absence of noise, large hotels and cars. Elderly people who want to relax in a quiet and relaxed environment should come here on holiday. It is possible that families with children may get a little bored here. Since the tourist infrastructure in this place is very small, in the evening the town dies out, only a couple of supermarkets are open.

Saint Stephen- a place where a huge number of tourists come, it is attractive because there is an island hotel located here. Where world celebrities often stay: Sophia Loren, Sylvester Stallone and others. It is not economical to relax in Sveti Stefan itself; the resort is considered respectable, but it is absolutely not big. There are two beaches, paid and free. On a paid basis, to be accommodated you need to pay 50 euros per place. If you want to stay here, but you don’t have such funds, you can rent an apartment for yourself; a day will cost 50-80 euros. The only nuance of this place is that it is very vertical. Therefore, the question arises how convenient it will be for older people and families with small children. The place is absolutely not suitable for young people - it will be very boring. In my opinion, St. Stephen is only suitable for visiting from an educational point of view.

Saint Stephen

Milocer- a neighbor of St. Stephen, there is only one hotel here, the prices for accommodation in it are very high. Not every tourist can afford this. Milocher has a gorgeous park where a large number of coniferous trees and rare plant species. Also, this place is famous for its royal beach with fine sand. It is worth coming here, as well as to Sveti Stefan, for excursion purposes; it is very expensive to stay and it will also be very boring.

Petrovac- a small, very colorful village. I would single it out from everyone on the Budva coast. Here, like nowhere else, you feel that you are in Montenegro. Beautiful embankment with big amount tourist infrastructure, good beaches with fine pebble sand cannot but attract tourists here. Also, in Petrovac there is an old town where colorful lighting is turned on in the evening. The town is in great demand among tourists, but it is far from budget. The average cost of apartments during the season starts from 50 euros and above. Hotel prices are high. Petrovac is suitable for all categories of tourists, an excellent place for families with children, for the elderly, and for active youth.

Petrovac

Sutomore- a resort somewhat deprived of natural beauty, but it has long and wide beaches, both sandy and sandy-pebble. The hotel base of this place is somewhat outdated, but there is a wide choice of apartments. The advantage of the resort is its prices; a night in high season will cost from 30 euros. Sutomore has a well-developed infrastructure, there is an active nightlife for young people, an amusement park for children, and a wonderful promenade where most tourists take a walk in the evening. In general, I think that this resort is somewhat undervalued; few people know it on the Russian market.

Sutomore

Bar- a large industrial and residential city. You can visit it for excursion purposes, but it’s definitely not worth relaxing here.

Ulcinj- the southernmost village, located on the border with Albania, known for its long sandy beaches with a shallow entry into the sea. The public who choose this resort for their holidays are Albanians, a very specific people. Comes on vacation with large families. I would not recommend a holiday in this place, because being in Ulcinj there is no feeling that this is Montenegro. Very poor vegetation, high humidity, other than visiting the Great Beach, there is nothing else to do here. A trip of one day maximum.

Ulcinj (Great Beach)

So in Montenegro there is another coast - the Hercegnovskaya Riviera. In my opinion, it is the richest in nature, but for the most part, swimming in the sea is only possible through concrete decks or down the stairs. I would like to highlight such places as: Kotor, Perast and Risan - unique, incredibly beautiful villages, mostly foreigners vacation here, the Russian public rarely visits these places, which is a pity.

The most popular place on this coast Herceg Novi. Tours here are expensive, the hotel base is very large and varied, but even a stay in a simple hotel will not be very economical. This place is called the birthplace of artists and poets; many paintings and poems were written here. To understand why, it’s worth visiting Herceg Novi at least once. It is very beautiful and green here, you will constantly feel a great desire to capture everything you see on camera.

The beaches here are pebbly or the entrance to the water is from the pier. A completely different crowd vacations in Herceg Novi, many families with children and elderly people. The undoubted advantage of this place is its proximity to Dubrovnik and the presence of the Igalo health and wellness center.

Montenegro is a beautiful country, very picturesque. When going here, you should understand that it will not be right to stay exclusively in a hotel, much less take the all-inclusive type of food, unless, of course, you fly here with a large number of children. In Montenegro, you need to be an active tourist, rent a car in order to get to know the beauty of this country much closer than you would even like.

First of all, I will say that the most economical way is to fly here as an independent tourist, having booked an apartment in the city you like. Flying through a tour operator is much more expensive, and the choice of accommodation facilities will be much more limited.

In addition, Montenegro has a large number of interesting attractions of completely different directions. This and the presence of an old town in almost every resort place, monasteries, churches, ancient forts, the feeling of the Middle Ages will follow you everywhere. Nature lovers will discover the truly beautiful Skadar Lake with a large number of its inhabitants: cranes, storks.

Those who appreciate the winery will also come to the right place. Near the lake there is a factory for the production of Montenegrin wines, tastings are held there, after which those who wish to buy what they particularly liked. If you want homemade wine, there is the village of Virpazar nearby, where the locals themselves sell their own wine.

The food in Montenegro is very tasty, a lot national dishes which are definitely worth a try. Restaurants are always happy to see their visitors and in their... read more

How much does a holiday in Kotor cost? May 2019.

tour cost

If you are traveling for tourism purposes, you do not need a visa. Airplane tickets for one person from Samara to Tivat (round trip) cost around 26 thousand rubles. From Tivat to Kotor it is 8 kilometers by bus. A hotel room for 7 days cost 18,000 rubles.

Food and products

Food prices in Montenegro will be cheaper in supermarkets than in markets. Prices for vegetables and fruits in supermarkets start from € 0.5 per kilogram. For example, a kilogram of cucumbers will cost €0.6, and a kilogram of apples will cost €0.57.

Holiday impressions in August

When I first flew to Montenegro, the country frankly reminded me of the southern coast of Crimea. I can’t explain why exactly, but I understood - Montenegro is my resort and I will not regret that I chose to go on vacation with my family here. Montenegro is a bright, beautiful, wonderful country for all kinds of holidays, both beach and excursion. The village of Becici seemed to me to be a fairly calm, cozy and peaceful place, almost ideal for a family holiday.

As for the time of year, August is summer, and it is really very hot here. Next time, it will be June, so that the sea will warm up, or September - and there will be fewer people, the sea is still warm, and the summer heat is no longer there.

Family holiday

We planned our vacation bypassing travel agencies, all because tickets here are relatively inexpensive, there is a lot of accommodation for every taste and color (yes, exactly color;) and you can choose an option so that the child has his own room, there is a kitchen with everything necessary . But all this doesn’t matter, because the main advantage of this country for children is a very comfortable climate, and, of course, incredibly beautiful nature. The purest sea air, beautiful rocks, extraordinary color of water - either emerald or blue - you want to immediately paint a picture. All this has a very beneficial effect on the child’s health.

Where is the best place to stay?

Depending on your budget and whether you are traveling with or without children, you can choose the perfect accommodation for yourself. We booked in early spring, and to be honest, we didn’t keep track of price changes in the summer. But as a rule, the earlier you book, the more you save. It was important for me to have access to kitchen equipment, since the child, at least in the morning, wanted to cook homemade porridge and be able to sometimes cook homemade soup.

What to do at the resort?

In the first days, we, probably like everyone else, simply enjoyed the beauty of Montenegro. It's completely free :) It was especially interesting to look at local yachts. Becici is considered a prestigious resort and there are many yachts moored - the exhibition is real, and also free. Sometimes you can see huge liners. We visited two of the most popular excursions - the island of Sveti Stefan, which is only 30 minutes away, and a visit to the Bay of Kotor.

Disadvantages of holidays in Becici

Since I have already written about most of the advantages, there are also disadvantages of this resort. Since a visa-free regime has been established with our country and Montenegro, you can meet a lot of our compatriots there. Sometimes it seems, if you close your eyes, that you are on the beach in Odessa. In addition, the beach strip is frankly narrow and there are more paid beaches, as it seemed to me, than free ones. This means that everyone is on top of each other. The village is European, but you can often encounter the fact that the trash cans are overflowing, not because they were not removed, but because the utility services simply do not have time to remove everything in time. Strictly speaking, these are all disadvantages.

Is it worth vacationing in Becici?

If you ever find yourself in Montenegro, you will 100% want to visit here again. The disadvantages of the resort seem so insignificant that they certainly won’t ruin your vacation in any way. Therefore, feel free to buy tickets, book a hotel and feel free to go to this fabulous place.

In 2000, the Bay of Kotor was named the most beautiful bay in the world! To see the panorama of the Bay of Kotor, you will take a car to the very top of the mountain, from where you can enjoy stunning views. And then go down to Old city Kotor, whose narrow streets fascinate the traveler at any time of the year, in any weather, and always give an unforgettable experience.

Ancient Kotor, compactly located at the foot of Mount Lovcen, was first mentioned in the 1st century AD as Akruvium. Which was owned by the Illyrians, Romans, Byzantines, then Slavic tribes - from the 7th century (the power of Duklja, later Zeta). Skadar Lake National Park has an area of 300 square kilometers - it is the largest lake in the Balkans. Its depth is 5-8 meters, and the lowest point of the lake is below sea level. Part of the lake belongs to Montenegro, part to Albania. Many species of birds nest here, including pelicans.

The road to the lake from the sea coast is quite interesting: you move along the sea with a picturesque coastline, pass bridges, a long tunnel, and then dive into the tiny town of Virpazar, where your two-hour boat ride will begin. We make our way through tall reeds and a sea of water lilies, find ourselves on the open surface of the lake and move towards the islands and medieval fortresses and monasteries.

Where is the best place to relax in Montenegro?

Tivat

This is an inexpensive resort. It is suitable for those who are accustomed to an active pastime, because all excursions in Montenegro begin from here. The resort is often chosen as a holiday destination, as it is where tourists fly in 90% of cases. This means there is no need to waste time and money on additional relocation.

Most tourists believe that the best place to relax in Montenegro is in Budva. This is the most famous resort and main center nightlife countries with a large number of entertainment venues per unit area. However, Budva cannot be called exclusively youth: there is a zoo, a water park with attractions, beautiful and compact historical Center. You can get to the resort from Tivat by taking a bus for two euros.

In Budva, all beaches are small pebbles, and the sea is protected from cold currents. The most popular beaches - Mogren, Slavic And Richard's Chapter. The noisiest and most crowded is Slavyansky. There is a lot of entertainment, children's playgrounds and attractions. A 20-minute walk from Slavyansky there is a quiet Mogren beach with a flat bottom and shallow depth - it is better to relax there with children.

Snorkeling lovers should visit the island St. Nicholas. Entry to the island is free, but you have to pay to rent a sun lounger and parasol. A small resort village is located a few kilometers from Budva Becici with its own two-kilometer pebble beach.

Holidays in Budva are interesting for any category of tourists, but prices in the city are high, so budget tourists are better off relaxing in another resort in Montenegro - Herceg Novi.

Herceg Novi

The famous health resort of Montenegro, which has received the unofficial status of the greenest city in the country. At one time they brought to Herceg Novi exotic plants from all over the world, so you won’t surprise anyone with palm trees and cacti here. The city is quiet and calm, it has beautiful narrow streets that are pleasant to stroll along at any time of the day.

True, despite its patriarchy and silence, this city is not recommended for elderly people and parents with strollers due to the peculiarities of its geography. Herceg Novi is located on the hills, all the transitions have difficult descents and ascents, a lot of stairs. But with older children it will be good: Bay of Kotor warm, the water is always calm, many walking areas and a beautiful Old Town. The only negative is that all the beaches in the city are concrete, and some tourists even prefer to take a boat to the nearest beach.

Saint Stephen

The island hotel and elite resort in Montenegro is located 6 km from Budva. The beaches on the island are covered with pink sand; it is connected to the mainland by a small natural isthmus of fine gravel. Alas, the island is accessible only to the powerful. Ordinary tourists can lie on the beach of a small resort village located next to the island. The village itself is located on a mountain, and you have to go down to the beach by steps, which is very inconvenient for older people and vacationers with small children.

(Photo © nakedst / flickr.com / License CC BY-NC-ND 2.0)

This is the most atypical city for Montenegro. Once upon a time he was part of Ottoman Empire and was a famous slave trade center on the Adriatic. The resort borders Albania, and getting there public transport from Tivat or Budva is not very convenient. Because of this, there are still few vacationers in Ulcinj, despite the attractive prices and oriental flavor that dominates here.

The main advantage of Ulcinj is its sandy beaches. On the territory of the longest of them - Great- there are several kitesurfing clubs, and on the territory Small Beach there is a dive center. At the end of the Great Beach, almost 25 km from Ulcinj, there is an island Ada-Boyana. According to tourists, this is one of the best places for holidays in Montenegro. A nature reserve with sandy beaches, one part of which is reserved for “textile workers”, the other for nudists. Both categories of vacationers coexist quite peacefully on the same territory, and security strictly monitors order.

Zabljak

This is the most famous ski resort in Montenegro, located on the territory national park in the Durmitor mountains. The landscape and climate are similar to the Swiss Alps, and vacation prices are 1.5-2 times lower.

You can ski from December to the end of March, the most equipped resorts are Stutz, Savin Cook And Javorovach. The year-round ski slope is located in Debeli Namet. In summer, cycling, rafting, mountaineering and jeep rallies are popular in Zabljak.

September is one of the last warm months, because the tourist season is designed for the period from May to October. Despite the end of summer, the weather in September remains beautiful.

Most tourists prefer a beach holiday and the beginning of autumn still allows you to relax on the sand near the sea. Even though the water is still warm, the weather is still not as predictable and not as hot as in the summer.

The climate in Montenegro is divided into three types:

  • Mediterranean. It predominates on the coast.
  • Mountain, which is located in the eastern part of the country.
  • Flat, located in the central part.

Montenegro in September: holiday prices

One of the decisive criteria when deciding to travel to a particular country is the price. Recently, a trip to Montenegro has become more expensive, but it still remains a popular and effective holiday destination.

The price of a tour to Montenegro can be found in the travel agency of your city, as it varies.

One of the most expensive holiday destinations is the city of Budva, and cities such as Becich, Tivat, Bar, Ulcinj can accommodate tourists with more modest finances.

As for the beaches, a comfortable stay on them is also paid. Regardless of the location, sun loungers complete with an umbrella cost approximately 10-15 euros and they can be used until you leave the beach.

Some packages don't include meals, so it's worth shelling out for that too. In general, food costs approx. 100 euro per week, subject to the usual breakfast, lunch and dinner. But in any case, it’s better to be safe and take it with you 150 euros .

As for purchases, the price depends on the place where you make these purchases. Usually residents go shopping to Podgorica, since there are almost no tourists there, and therefore prices for goods are much cheaper. In addition, good and affordable shopping can be organized in the city of Bar. In general, about 150 euros

Features of a beach holiday in Montenegro

This country is characterized by both private and public beaches. Those who love sand are recommended to relax in Budva and other resorts located around it. Guests of the Hercegnovskaya Riviera are invited to relax on concrete platform beaches.

Connoisseurs of health tourism often buy tours to the resorts of the Ulcinj Riviera, as the beaches in this place have beneficial properties: the sand contains special minerals that have a preventive effect, helping in the fight against rheumatism and nervous diseases.

Bottom line

The abundance of beaches and resorts in Montenegro make holidays unforgettable even in autumn. Montenegro is rich in many places for entertainment and a good time, so in any case, tourists get a good impression from visiting this wonderful country.

In this article, we tried to tell you about how different resorts in Montenegro differ, which resorts we considered the best, and which ones we are not ready to advise you.

Budva is the most popular resort in Montenegro

Budva is not a very good option for shopping. They mainly sell things from Turkey and China. But there is something to see in the city. I would like to highlight it with its medieval streets, cozy restaurants, a chic fortress, the bastion of which you can even climb (for a fee) and a marina.

Well, it’s absolutely impossible not to remember about, the road to which we remember especially well.

Herceg Novi is the greenest and most comfortable city in Montenegro

Sveti Stefan Island - a resort closed to visitors

In terms of beaches, Bar is a fairly ordinary resort, there is nothing special here, the beaches are even slightly worse than the national average.

But here you can see the ruins of the old city - very beautiful and unusual.

Ulcinj – if sandy beaches are important to you

- the southernmost city of Montenegro, almost on the border with. The city is famous for its excellent sandy beaches and a huge number of sunny days a year. Please note that the beaches here will be a bit hot. The beach season here lasts for half a year - from April to November.

The beaches of Ulcinj are covered with basalt sand, which is considered very beneficial for the musculoskeletal system. Gorgeous olive groves grow around the city. There are also disadvantages - the mountains are almost invisible.
