Of course, I dreamed of high white plinths and wide trims to decorate the openings (we abandoned doors) ... But, as usual, dreams were not destined to come true. Mom chose the baseboard before I even had time to blink an eye.
We decided to remove at least a little relief, we built three partitions, thus creating two niches for built-in wardrobes in the room.

Then there was the problem of installing the front door. It turned out that the wall above the door (separating the apartment and the vestibule) was made of... dammit... slate! Yes, two such flat slate sheets, and there is empty space between them. The installers dumped everything out, installed the door, and our worker took the day off. This is how our door stood for two days:

The color of the front door is very beautiful; it took us a long time to select the interior door to the bathroom to match the tone and layout of the panels. But everything that we looked at live was either not satisfied with the quality, or color, or everything, in the end we found what we needed in an online store in a neighboring town.

We thought about going to see it in person, but we called and it wasn’t in the store to show it. In general, we ordered it without looking... We looked at the color on four different monitors, it was almost exactly like the input color. But it came completely beige. I knew that bleached oak gives off yellow, but so...

We were a little upset. Then our friends convinced us that the front door was not the theme here, but the interior door really suited both the floor and the bathroom itself :-)
Among the shortcomings in the corridor are additions to the front door, installation of a bell. In a narrow niche to the left of the front door there is planned a small shoe rack and, possibly, a shelf with hooks for keys and umbrellas.
Yes, I’ll say right away that the renovation work is almost finished, with the exception of a few little things, but we haven’t gotten around to decorating yet... I really hope that soon the walls will have photographs or paintings, the sofas will have beautiful cushions, rugs will be placed on the floor, and kitchen chairs will be covered with colored seats. Then I will continue my blog with the final photos. For now, the photos are unadorned, a clean renovation.

As for the kitchen, there were no special problems. Somehow the tiles on the backsplash immediately came out. I fell in love with her at first sight, and was very afraid that my mother would not appreciate it. But she liked it too. A little expensive, of course, but we didn’t need much, so we took it.

They wanted to buy the kitchen itself from IKEA. They came, drew, and watched with their mother. Here we need to talk about color. Our grandmother is a pharmacist who worked for a long time as a pharmacy manager. She categorically does not accept white furniture at home, as it reminds her of work. Therefore, they looked at something gray to go with the already purchased tiles. As a result, the IKEA kitchen did not work for us. There will be a gap, there will be a hole, there the box will need to be filed, etc.

As a result, they were made to order without any gaps, the facades were made of solid ash, and the price was cheaper than in IKEA. They just added IKEA handles :-)

A TV was planned for the wall of the ventilation duct, but we haven’t even purchased one for the large room yet and now we think that a second TV is not needed for the kitchen, maybe some kind of framed poster or picture should be hung?... There are plans for a microwave and an electric kettle under it.
The cut tiles will (hopefully) go up above the stove this weekend. The kitchen installers said that it is better to actually glue the required size after installing the kitchen. And there was still no time...
