He expected income from Venezuela, career development and exotics. However, in the end, the first place in this list was taken by passionate, like a Latin American series, transatlantic love.

It was 2012 outside. Alexander worked at an enterprise that became the product of an ardent Belarusian-Venezuelan friendship. The Europeans raised South America industry and careers. By that time, Sasha had graduated from foreign language. The main language is English, the secondary language is Spanish, which life forced me to finish learning.

- Imagine, for example, a classic Belarusian language and "trasyanka". So the Spanish that we are taught at the university, and the Spanish that native speakers speak, are fundamentally different things. In Venezuela it is called latino. At first I couldn't understand anything at all.

While Sasha indulges in South American memories, Melissa brews coffee brought back from her homeland. The kitchen is filled with a rich and, as Ivar Kalnins said in some prehistoric advertisement, a bewitching aroma.

- I worked then in a mobile phone shop,- Chirping Spanish is switched on in the kitchen. - Many Russian-speaking people came to us. They did not know Spanish and communicated only with gestures. Sasha was the first to understand anything. He could not catch my words the first time, so he kept asking funny questions all the time.

Sometimes I ordered a taxi, which could wait three hours. Still, you can’t trust anyone, so you had to wait until a familiar driver was released.

- No rings or jewelry. Unless you want to become a lure that is sure to be responded to. Somehow I was stopped on the street. They took everything off. That's all right. But I still got off easy. My brother's girlfriend was “cleaned” like this three times. Dad, who was driving a car at 7 am on a weekday, was stopped right on the road. A man and a pregnant woman were sitting on a motorcycle. Dad tried to resist, but the man hit him in the head. The car was eventually taken away with all the documents. Then I had to buy it. Naturally, everything was torn out of the car to the maximum.

Stirring coffee with a spoon, Alexander recalls his horror story about Venezuela:

- Familiar guys say that according to statistics, every hour someone is killed there. I don't know how official this information is. But I wouldn't be surprised if it's true. We had a guy in the company. His uncle was a taxi driver. He stopped at an intersection at 8 am and was hit on the door. The motorcyclist crashed into the car. The taxi driver began to make claims: “What, you don’t know how to drive ?!” The motorcyclist didn't say anything. He just pulled out a gun and fired two shots.

Guys, it's a pity that this is the case. Nevertheless, Venezuela is a beautiful country with a complete set of tourist "nishtyaks" like the Caribbean Sea, the Amazon, mountains, jungles, deserts and all sorts of historical places. True, in view of crime, it is impossible to make money on them.

- We have a joke: if someone attacks a Venezuelan abroad with a knife, he will start laughing and move on. We are not surprised by this. There was a girl who worked with me in the store. Somehow, guys with knives wanted to “lift” her. The girl started to fight back. Yes, it remained scratched and slightly beaten, but it did not give up. She kicked and bit those bandits as best she could.

Surprisingly, of course, but outwardly Venezuelan offenders look more friendly than law-abiding citizens of Belarus. Melissa, although used to it, is still surprised at our sullenness.

- Plus, the Russian language sounds very tough. It feels like you guys are freaking out all the time. I got used to this for a very long time. It’s also hard for Belarusians to smile. Like it needs a special occasion. Faces are always very serious.

Sasha says that the Latin American topic interested him even before the first flight to Venezuela. And in confirmation, he shows his tightly "clogged" legs.

- The locals did not particularly react to my tattoos. They said: "Well, you're white." True, it was not possible to do anything in Venezuela. Masters from Caracas are engaged in real art. And the queue for them is scheduled for years to come.

Alexander's work was choppy and intermittent. Two months in Venezuela, two in Belarus. From 2012 to 2016, the guy spent about a year and a half in South America. The affair with Melissa could not be called swift. Last year, they almost did not communicate, keeping in touch by correspondence.

- I showed my parents photos. They said: “Oh, what a wonderful girl!” But I think they hardly believed that the son would decide on some serious steps. And so I thought: if you want to do something, you need to take it and do it. There is nothing to fear. There is no point in waiting for outside advice. Life is mine. I took a leap into the unknown, but in the end it turned out to be a leap of faith.

Melissa thought about an unexpected proposal to marry and move to Belarus for two months.

- I have five brothers. Three of them are engaged in extreme cycling - famous people in the country. My father has eight brothers, my mother also has eight. Each of them has five or six children. There are ninety relatives. When we gather at the end of the year, the table is so huge that you can get tired until you get from one side of it to the other. We have fun until dawn, and then we part a little bit. And they all had to be left behind. But I made up my mind.

Naturally, the decision made caused a wave of panic. What kind of Belarus is this? Would a southern woman like this land of stern faces? How will Alexandra's family receive her? Yes, far from ninety people were announced relatives (and ten times less), but still. As a result, the young people landed in Minsk on December 22.

It was around zero degrees. True, by mid-January, the thermometer bombed with a specific minus. It snowed. Melissa perceived what was happening as a miracle. She played with the snow like a child. Yet she had never seen anything like it before.

“I always wanted to see snow. Yes, we have snow peaks in Venezuela. But by the time you get to them, all the blood will boil away from the pressure. Sasha, after his business trips, also sometimes froze at +15. And after our usual +37, I suffered completely. By the way, it is cool at night in Barinas - only +30.

The couple thought for a long time how and where to ring. And yet, young people decided to do it in Belarus. True, in the end I had to wade through the bureaucratic jungle.

- If a foreign woman marries an Italian, she automatically receives citizenship. Unfortunately, we don't have- says Alexander. - As a result, we celebrated the wedding modestly. Lush celebrations will be held in Venezuela for the anniversary.

Alexander works as a manager at one of the Minsk enterprises. Its functionality involves organizing receptions for international delegations. Melissa is still at home and getting used to the new environment.

- At first, it was very difficult for me here because of the silence. For example, in Venezuela I got used to train. Not fitness in the gym, but such home aerobics. Naturally, everything is accompanied by music.

- Now I'm used to calmness in every sense. I just enjoy it. To be honest, I don’t know how I will feel about the noise in Venezuela. I do have big house- five rooms, a large patio the size of an average summer cottage in Belarus. There is a metal cutting shop nearby. The music is constantly playing. Mechanisms rumble. Noise has been an indispensable background in my life. I'm surprised I got used to it.

If Melissa is still trying to engage in communication, she retorts: "I don't speak Russian." True, once there was a system failure. An unfamiliar grandfather asked how to find Lenin Square. Initially, Melissa did not understand our cuisine. What is buckwheat? How can you eat white fat, which the locals call lard?

- And now he loves it all, Alexander laughs.

The international family has an interesting linguistic situation. The wife speaks only Spanish, the husband speaks Spanish and Russian, and his parents only speak Russian.
