MOSCOW, December 12 - RIA Novosti. The national rating of universities in the Russian Federation, which shows their demand on the part of the Russian economy, was presented on Tuesday, December 12 by the Social Navigator project of the Rossiya Segodnya International Information Agency.

In 2017, the study included 448 universities from 81 subjects of the Russian Federation. The evaluation of universities was carried out according to such criteria as the demand for trained specialists by employers, the commercialization of the intellectual product produced by the university, as well as the demand for a research product (methodology) .

The university demand rating includes state, departmental, municipal and private universities that provide training for basic and additional higher education programs. Among them are 127 engineering universities, 89 classical universities, 54 agricultural universities, 61 management universities, 69 humanitarian universities and 48 medical universities. The study did not include branches, higher religious educational institutions, universities in the field of culture and military profile.

According to the results of this study, in terms of the ratio of "the proportion of graduates who received a job placement" the country's agricultural universities are in the lead - almost 68 percent of graduates get a job placement. The least demanded by employers are graduates of universities in the field of management (economics, finance, law, 28.6%).

According to the indicator "the share of funds in the budget of the university from scientific research", as expected, engineering universities of the country are in the lead (on average 15.6% of the budget of universities). More modest (almost one and a half times) figures for medical and agricultural universities - 9.1% and 8.2%, respectively. The lowest average values are for liberal arts universities (7.7).

If we consider the "citation index of the works of employees of the organization", then the gap between different types of universities is not so obvious: the maximum indicators are for classical universities (11.9%) and medical universities (11.7%), and the minimum - for the humanities (8.6 %).

Among the engineering universities (technical universities), which are most widely represented in this study, the leader is the National Research Nuclear University MEPhI. The second line of the ranking is occupied by the St. Petersburg National Research University of Information Technologies, Mechanics and Optics. In third place is Moscow State Technical University named after N.E. Bauman.

The leader of the ranking among classical universities, as in the previous year, was the Moscow State University named after M.V. Lomonosov. In second place is the Ural Federal University named after the first President of Russia B.N. Yeltsin. The National Research Tomsk State University closes the top three.

In the nomination "agricultural universities" as well as last year, the leaders are Stavropol State Agrarian University and Kuban State Agrarian University.

The Russian School of Economics, the Moscow Higher School of Social and Economic Sciences and the National Research University Higher School of Economics became the leaders in terms of demand among the universities of economics, finance and law.

The first places among the humanitarian (pedagogical and philological) universities were taken by the Orthodox St. Tikhon Humanitarian University, the Moscow City Pedagogical University and the Russian State Pedagogical University. A.I. Herzen.

At the same time, as the expert emphasized, it is not entirely correct to compare the results of last year's rating with the results of this year. "The main reason is that the current rating fixes the result of the recent restructuring and optimization of the network of higher educational institutions in Russia," she explained. So, according to Rosobrnadzor, since 2014, the network has halved, which means that the rating base itself has become different.

The change in the network led to the fact that a number of universities, which in 2016 occupied worthy positions, left the “tops” in 2017. Thus, according to Natalia Tyurina, the rating for the first time demonstrates measurements of the changed network.

This opinion is shared by the scientific director of the Volga branch of the Federal Institute for the Development of Education, the scientific director of this study, Efim Kogan. Commenting on the results, he noted that the purpose of the rating is not so much to show "a place in the ranks" as to declare adherence to the criteria for assessing the conditions and results of the organization's activities. "The creation of the 2017 university ranking according to the criteria of the previous year takes into account the changes that have taken place in the list of the country's universities for a variety of reasons - reorganization, suspension or revocation of a license, etc.," he stressed.

At the same time, experts pay attention to the stability of leadership groups. In their opinion, this indicates that the Russian system of higher education is generally stable in terms of its characteristics.

Tyurina also noted that the comparison of the current and last year's rating results would not be entirely correct. This year there have been changes in the internal structure and optimization of universities. Because of this, some educational institutions that were in worthy positions in 2016 disappeared from the list.

At the same time, the leaders in each list of universities remained the same, which, according to experts, indicates the sustainability of higher education, if we take its characteristics as a basis.

This is the fifth rating that has successfully passed the IREG-Observatory audit. International experts have confirmed that the rating compilers have chosen the most effective methodology for ranking participants, while the result meets the highest class standards.

In the course of the survey, it was possible to find out what influences the choice of a university to a greater extent. The first three positions were distributed as follows:

32% of applicants answered that they chose the rating as the defining source of information.
29% relied on the opinion of friends, loved ones.
11% obeyed their parents.

The analysis of the result led to several final conclusions:

In the top ten in technical and economic specialties there are 3 institutions - these are the state universities of Moscow, St. Petersburg and Novosibirsk;
In the field of technical HE, there is fierce competition between institutions;
In the system of economic higher education, there is no competition between higher and middle-level institutions.

Almost all the leading lines of highly specialized ratings are occupied by Moscow State University - the titled university of the country lost to its competitors in only two ratings: in the direction of engineering science (ahead of the Bauman Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology) and in medicine (Moscow State Medical University named after Sechenov is in first place).
